*** READ THIS BEFORE DOWNLOADING PCT366.LQR (or PCT366.BIN) ***
This information refers to PCT366.LQR, a squeezed library file containing a
number of sub-files, which when unsqueezed will be named PCT366.LBR. It may be
called PCT366.BIN on CIS. It is an UPDATED version of PCT365.LBR(BIN) & also
PCT366.LQR Level 840704. The main files within are called PCT365.MRG &
PCT365.DOC. It contains many enhancements and fixes for PC-TALK III. Both
PCT365 & also PCT366, Level 840704 contain the following:
Hangup command.
Rewritten Redial module.
New logon screen
Alphabetized updated menu.
Split-screen module.
Auto-change to 8N1 for XMODEM xfers.
Subdirectory and Path support.
Make and retrieve a disk file for the ALT 1-0 keys.
View free disk space in the ALT-V module.
Improvements and added flexibility in the Manual Dialing section of the
Dialing module.
Numerous fixes and changes, which promote smoother and more efficient
program operation.
Additionally, the following are provided as updates for PCT366 to Level 840704
TIMED AND CHARACTER PACING IN THE FUNCTION KEY AND ALT-KEY MODULES.
VARIABLE LENGTH STRING ENTRY FROM KEYBOARD DURING OUTPUT OF MACRO
(Like Prokey) (See Important Note below.)
VIEW DISK FREE SPACE IN ALL FILE TRANSFER MODULES, previously only
well implemented in the VIEW FILE module, Alt-V. Also, subcommands
given in Message Line. New subcommands added. (/ now = ? making for
fewer keystrokes.)
A THIRD FIX FOR THE DTR PROBLEM IN THE HAYES 1200B. And, information
for using the new version (May 84) of the 1200B.
Two enhancements for the PCT365 Redial (Alt-Q) section: 1) Allows 3
options for temporarily shortening the delay time, permitting much
faster recycling time, thus giving better chances connection. 2)
Provision has been made for directly accessing the dialing directory.
File operations with the Alt-Keys 1/0 (Alt-I & Alt-U) had a bug in
the original author's code, which prevented a filename longer than
3 characters from being entered, if you went there from the Dialing
Directory. This has been fixed.
The following are updates to PCT366, Level 840715
SEND MULTIPLE LINES enhancement for the Split-Screen mode. When in
this mode, you may use the Carriage return substitute character,
usually the } to terminate a line segment on keyboard entry to line
25. When you then press <cr> the segment of line 25 up to the point
where the } occurs, is xmitted. Alt-C no longer wipes out line 25 and
Macros can be sent during split-screen & inserted in line 25 segments.
The code has been reorganized to accept a direct merge of an IBM 3101
emulator enhancement which in addition provides colors, music, and
windows features when used with certain RBBS's so equipt. The emulator
module itself had the original filename on CIS of PCTCMW.MRG, BUT HAS
BEEN MODIFIED so as to permit direct merge into PCT366 Level 840715,
or into a PC-TALK 3, which has been merged with PCT366, Level 840715,
for those who may wish this feature. To avoid confusion with the
original, the emulator module in this .LBR has been renamed PCCMWF.MRG.
Note: No documentation for its use is available and the combination
has not been tested, except to say that the merge is mechanically
proper. The author is believed to be Kent Galbraith.
Also, improvements in overall integration of various functions.
THERE ARE NO TERMINAL EMULATION MODS DIRECTLY INCLUDED IN PCT366.MRG
PCT366 will update your PC-TALK 3 to Ver 3.66 Level 840715.
DO NOT DOWNLOAD PCT366.LQR UNLESS YOU HAVE ACCESS TO THE FOLLOWING:
THE ORIGINAL DISTRIBUTION VERSION OF PC-TALK III; PC-TALK.BAS level 830424
IBM or MS DOS 2.0
THE IBM BASIC COMPILER ver 1.0
IBM LINKER ver 2.0
LU.EXE OR LUPC.BAS (Library File handlers.)
NUSQ13.COM Or other file Unsqeezer. (Note: At this writing, the
unsqueezer called AUSQ.COM, gives a checksum error.
We've notified the author and a fixed ver may appear.)
In addition, your computer must have 128K of ram minimum.
PCT366.LBR contains files with which to enhance the operation of the
communications program, PC-TALK III. The original DISTRIBUTION
program called PC-TALK.BAS, Level 830424 must be available to the user.
An included file called PCT366.MRG will be Merged into it, and then
compiled and linked with several other included files to produce PC-TALK.EXE
ver 3.66 Level 840715. This version and level enumeration is used soley
for identification and information.

THESE MODIFICATIONS ARE THE WORK PRODUCT OF THE AUTHORS NOTED IN THE REVISED
DOCUMENTATION, PCT366.DOC, & THE MERGE FILE PCT366.MRG, AND ARE NOT THE WORK

INITIAL INSTALLATION
PCT366.LQR, which may be called PCT366.BIN on CIS, is a squeezed Library type
file. In order to work with it, you will need a Public Domain program known
predominately as LU.EXE, (though another program usually called LUPC.BAS will
also work). Refer to the documentation LU.DOC, regarding the use of the
library handler program, LU.EXE.
Use your file unsqueezer to unsqueeze PCT366.LQR, which will then be named
PCT366.LBR. Then use LU.EXE to extract the files with the format:
LU A PCT366.LBR
You will then have:
PCT366.MRG, Level 840715 is the master Merge file in ASCII BASIC.
PCT366.DOC is the installation documentation, plus revised pages for the
ORIGINAL PC-TALK III manual, which detail the updates and new
services.

After extraction and unsqueezing, you must read the PCT366.DOC, which
will explain the reamainder of the installation procedure. DO NOT MERGE
A SEPARATE FILE FOUND ON MANY BBS'S CALLED PCTFK.MRG. (That file was an early
F-Key pacing implementation, which is now obsolete.)
**** IMPORTANT NOTE ****
This update of PCT366 contains Timed and Character sensitive Pacing in the
Function Key & Alt-Key systems, as well as provision for variable length
string input from keyboard during playback. To allow user flexibility, a
new item was added to the Default file, PC-TALK.DEF. Thus, the FIRST time
your new PC-TALK is booted and looks for the .DEF file, it will not recognize
the existing one and will re-initialize it (create a new one), using the
standard program defaults. You will then have to do ALT-F and reinstall the
program defaults you wish for your system. (Function Key pacing will allow
you to, for instance, log onto BBS's with one keystroke). Other PC-TALK files
are not affected by PCT366. The limitations regarding mixing Timed and
Character pacing in one macro and Split-Screen use stated in PCT365, have been
eliminated
